How much does a lip flip cost
A lip flip usually costs less per visit than any other common Botox area, because it uses only a small amount of product placed along the border of the upper lip. Clinics that charge per unit bill you for those few units. Clinics that charge per area set one lip flip fee, and many of them publish it on their price list. For a national reference, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons lists an average of $435 for botulinum toxin injections, but that figure covers every area and larger plans, so a lip flip quote is typically lower. The honest way to know your number is to ask two or three licensed clinics near you for a written quote.
| Way the clinic charges | What you pay for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Per unit | The few units placed in the upper lip, times the unit price | Some clinics have a minimum charge per visit even for small areas |
| Set lip flip fee | One price for the treatment, whatever the units | Whether a touch up within two weeks is included |
| Added to another area | A lower add on price when combined with forehead or frown lines | The full total for the visit, not only the add on |
| Package or membership | Several visits a year at a fixed price | How many visits are covered and the cancellation terms |
Lip flip vs lip filler cost per year
The price per visit tells only half the story. A lip flip is a short treatment that wears off in a few months, while hyaluronic acid lip filler commonly lasts from several months to around a year. So a flip is cheaper to try, and filler can work out closer in yearly cost than the visit prices suggest. The two also do different jobs. A flip relaxes the muscle so the upper lip rolls slightly outward. Filler adds volume and shape to one or both lips. Our page on lip filler cost explains how filler is priced per syringe, and how long does a lip flip last covers the timeline in detail.
| Lip flip | Lip filler | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Relaxes the upper lip muscle so the lip shows more | Adds volume and shape to the lips |
| Price per visit | Usually lower | Usually higher, priced per syringe |
| How long it commonly lasts | Around two to three months | Several months to around a year |
| Visits per year | More frequent | Less frequent |
| Can it be reversed | No, it wears off on its own | Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved |
Why lip flip prices differ between clinics
- How the clinic charges. Per unit pricing rewards a small area like the lip. A set fee can cost more or less than the same units billed one by one.
- Minimum visit charge. Some clinics charge a minimum for any neuromodulator visit, which hits small treatments like a flip hardest.
- Brand. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau are priced differently, and units do not convert one to one between brands.
- Who injects. A physician, a physician assistant or a nurse injector may be priced differently, and experience with the lip matters because placement affects how you drink and speak.
- City. A clinic in New York, Los Angeles or Miami usually charges more than one in a smaller metro.
- What is included. A follow up check at two weeks may be free at one clinic and billed at another.
Is a lip flip worth the money
A lip flip is worth it for people who want a subtle change, such as an upper lip that disappears when they smile, and who are happy to repeat it a few times a year. It is a low cost way to see whether a fuller looking upper lip suits you before committing to filler. It is a poor value if you want more volume, a change to the lower lip or a result that lasts close to a year, because a flip cannot add volume at all. A good provider will tell you plainly which treatment fits your goal, even if the answer is the more expensive one.
Can you combine a lip flip with filler
Yes, many providers combine the two, and some people find the pair gives a better result than a large amount of filler alone. Expect to pay for both, since the flip is a neuromodulator and the filler is priced per syringe. Ask the clinic whether it offers a combined price and in what order it would do the treatments.
Hidden costs to ask about before you book
- A consultation fee, and whether it is credited toward treatment.
- A minimum charge for neuromodulator visits.
- A touch up visit if one side looks different from the other after two weeks.
- How often you will realistically return, which sets your real yearly cost.
Is a cheap lip flip safe
Price alone does not tell you whether a lip flip is safe, but a quote far below every licensed clinic nearby deserves questions. Very low prices can mean diluted product, an unlicensed injector or a setting without a medical practice behind it. Ask which brand is used, who performs the injection and what their license is. If you want to read what published trials say about a product before your consultation, you can look up clinical evidence from real studies and bring your questions to the provider.
